Fashionable Beginnings in Montreal
Now that brand new 2011 is here, and it is the perfect time for new beginnings, allow me to introduce you to names that you will soon come to know and love here in Montreal Fashion. Over the course of being editor here at the magazine, I have had the privilege of meeting the best fashion talent this city has to offer. Here are the top three I believe will make ripples in the industry, they're all up and coming and ready to take you by storm:
Hangover - How to look and feel good
Many of us, if we haven't done so yet, are making plans on how we intend to ring in the New Year while the party season is already on in full swing.... office parties, disco nights every few days this month. As for New Years, some will share the night over champagne with best friends, or loved ones at home, and many will be out partying the night away. Whatever the style, the evening will most probably include heavy consumption of alcohol and so just in time here are some tips on how to feel good on January 1st, and more importantly how to look good and not fear your own reflection in the mirror.
Winds of Change - Fashion and Social Media
Well things change every season, especially with fashion. We all know that. But as we inch closer to the turn of the decade, what can we pause and give thought to, about major changes over the past 10 years. The first thing that comes to mind is the way the ‘fashion’ has adapted to the social media revolution.
Calories in Cocktails and other Holiday Spirits
'Tis the festive season and the parties seem to be popping up everywhere. With celebrations come more wining and dining. It’s the drinking where we allow our stay slim tactics to slide. So for this article, I set out to find how many calories most common drinks contain. With a little research I was able to find you a list of the more popular drinks, that you see this time of year. Keep in mind though that the numbers mentioned may vary a little depending on the type of wine and or labels.
Perfect Red Lips for the Holidays
The sexiest New Year's 2011 makeup will not be complete without the classic red lips and pout. Red lips are always in fashion. Studies show that, in the first 10 seconds after meeting a woman, the average man spends more than half the meeting looking at her mouth (no, really :)!). Well this, according to scientists (who used eye tracking software for the study) from Manchester University.
Boudoir Wedding Bells (Win your Tickets)
After the hustle and bustle of innumerable fashion events in Montreal, the city has yet one more to devour, before all energies zero in on the Holiday season. If you're married or not, wanna be or not, gonna be or not... this one will be a feast for your senses. A bridal fashion show to trump it all. Maddy K's Bridal Boudoir takes place on Sunday, December 5th this year at the Just for Laughs Museum.
8 Winter Tips for your Skin from a Russian Matryoshka
November will soon come to an end and it will be time for Canada Goose coats and UGG boots. I am originally from Russia and want to share 8 useful tips, that dulls the effects of even the severe Russian winters, to help maintain health and beauty of your skin during this cold season here in Canada.
What's the secret to staying fit?
My last article I gave 10 tips for healthy and easy weight loss. I had some feedback from our readers and a comment on our Facebook page; "only if it were that easy to follow". When I read the remark I understood where she was coming from. Sometimes all the best intentions regarding our eating habits and exercise habits get lost, especially when we come home from a long day of work and feel run-down and all you want to do is veg. It is normal to have road blocks and you are not alone, but don't use that as an excuse. Sometimes all it takes is a little more motivation to help kick start achieving a healthy lifestyle. So here are a few tips used in the past, on myself or with my clients, that have helped .
