SynesthAsia is a Montreal- based organization that seeks to raise funds for sustainable development and poverty alleviation projects in Asia.

SynesthAsia’s main event is an annual fashion show that features local designers and talent in a creative amalgamation of fashion, dance and culture. The show’s artistic concept is inspired by “synesthesia,” a neurological condition in which the senses become cross-wired – leading to sensations of “seeing sounds,” or “tasting colours.”Thus the audience is transported into a fantastical world that overwhelms the senses with its diverse influences from the alluring continent of Asia while showcasing local designers.

At this year’s show, attendees will have the opportunity to see the designs from Valérie Dumaine’s Spring 2011 Collection, a mixture of light and soft-hued fabrics with elegant drapings and silhouettes. The show will also showcase designs from Anomal Couture, Anastasia Lomonova, Preloved, newcomers TK and Gilbert Bui, New York City-based brand OfRags and student designers.

The event will help raise money and awareness for the Abhilasha Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to change in India and throughout the developing world. Money raised will go toward building a new environmentally sustainable school for underprivileged, handicapped children in the province of Rajnandgaon in India.
