Dinh Bà Spring/Summer 2011

Le décor est planté: nous siégeons au fond du bassin, défilé orchestré sous forme de longueurs de piscine; rien de bien conventionnel vous l'aurez compris!
Un défilé en deux parties: une première partie plus sombre et plus dame. Des tons lie-de-vin, du noir, du rouge, et, comme a son habitude Dinh Bà ose le jeu des matières:laine, tulle ou dentelle, des assemblages surprenants mais réussis.

Des tam-tams arrivent, jouant de plus en plus fort, de plus en plus vite, l'enthousiasme de l'audience montant crescendo.
Voici la deuxième partie. Plus légère, plus innocente, plus jeune aussi. Des robes légères, des tissus fluides, imprimés floraux en touches sur les jupes ou les tops; et beaucoup de noir et blanc avec quelques apparitions de rouge.
Une collection résolument fraiche et, qui n'est pas sans nous rappeler que l'on veut encore un peu d'été!

For his first independent fashion show, Dinh Ba’s spring/summer 2011 collection was held at Bain Mathieu. It wasn’t an ordinary show where the music starts on cue, the models walk the ramp and then the designer takes a bow.

It commenced with evening wear. Dark colors, like wine red and black and as always, Din Ba used different materials which made me want to reach out and touch the clothes on the models. When they were done, two tam tam players held us entranced. Then the models reappeared, this time in spring/summer clothes!

Beautiful structured dresses & skirts. He used a bit of floral prints on the skirts, a lot of black & white, and a pop of red here and there.

The overall impression I had was of a fresh and original collection. Maybe it is because I am half expecting snow anytime, and feeling nostalgic about summer but those dresses screamed sunglasses and green grass.
